Fatin Asma, the Dressmaker is a Creative Multimedia graduate of Multimedia University, majoring in Advertising Design. She didn’t dive into the industry after obtaining her degree. Instead, she took a sharp turn and pursued her interest in sewing. She finished her short course of Fashion & Dressmaking in 2013 and has been making clothes ever since. At the same time, she tries to keep her design skills from getting rusty by doing some freelance works and designing the brand identity of her own company, Zaajel Ensemble & Design.
The Dressmaker’s first working experience while waiting for her SPM results was at a company secretary office where she worked as a general clerk mostly attending to registration of companies. During her degree, she did her internship at SUREWORKS, an advertising agency for a few months. She then continued making dresses while working as a freelance designer with her main client being Mary Jardin which have developed from natural skin care products to fashion label, cosmetic products and recently a medispa.
She is a believer of doing what you love and loving what you do. Besides graphic design, she loves audio/video editing, experimenting with sounds, copywriting and coming up with conceptual ideas. Although she very much enjoyed her full-time position as Graphic Designer at Red Army Watches (2.5 years since April 2018) and Design Pickle (1 year since October 2020) where she worked with many brands and companies all across the globe, she is now more interested in part-time and freelance works.
The Dressmaker? This is merely a stage name. Whilst she mostly does graphic design, she still doesn’t want to part with that side of her passion and still identifies herself as a dressmaker.
